Shaun Post

Hi — I'm Shaun Post.

AI-Native Design Leader · Redwood City, CA

I design AI people trust.

For the users who depend on it. For the builders who create it.
Three case studies, one arc — built the patterns, applied them across a domain, now reshaping how a company builds AI.

Founding UX · Google Gemini Principal Designer · Intuit 2× Webby Winner

The arc

Each move was a step up in leverage.

20+ years across Disney, Apple, Amazon, Google, and Intuit. One through-line: making AI work for people.

  1. 01 Disney · Apple

    Craft

Storyboarding, brand, internal tools at scale. Learning how design earns trust through detail.

    2006 — 2016
  2. 02 Amazon

    Consumer AI at scale

Amazon Go, AR & Visual Search. Patterns for ambient, sensor-driven experiences.

    2016 — 2018
  3. 03 Google · DeepMind

    Defining AI interaction patterns

Founding UX on Gemini. Built the agentic framework — 20+ patterns, 10+ launches, one coherent system.

    2018 — 2025
  4. 04 Intuit — current

Reshaping how a company builds AI

Financial Intelligence across QuickBooks, TurboTax, Credit Karma, Mailchimp. Now: AI-native by default for ~10K builders.

    2025 — now

Point of view

Where AI design is going.

  • From InterfacesOrchestration
  • From ProductsPlatforms
  • From FeaturesCompany-wide capability

The work isn't designing AI features anymore. It's designing the systems and capabilities that let entire companies become AI-native.

Outside of work

Boston-born. Started in animation — storyboarding and game design for shows. Followed the curiosity from there.

Illustrator. Amateur drone pilot. Father, husband. Avid Lego collector, personal finance nerd, and occasional design instructor with The Last Mile.

My workbench

I don't just design AI. I build with it.

My practice runs on the same agentic tools I write about. Coding agents, terminal-first workflows, multi-model setups — the workbench is the proof of concept. Always evolving — if a new tool pushes the work forward, it's in the stack.

My craft

Designing with AI as a partner, not a tool — across product, platform, and practice.

Every project is a chance to test how AI-native methods change the work itself: prototyping with agents, generating exploration in parallel, using LLMs to pressure-test patterns before they ship. The chips below are areas where I lead — built and proven through that approach.

  • AI-native product design
  • Agentic interaction patterns
  • Design systems & tokens
  • Cross-org platform strategy
  • Design org leadership
  • Prototyping & vibe coding
  • Trust & safety in AI
  • Speaker series & workshops
  • Executive design strategy

How I lead

Four principles.
Each backed by a proof point.

01

Lead through clarity, not control.

Four Pillars at Gemini — Trust, Control, Continuity, Composable. A clear thesis aligned 10+ launches without me being in every meeting.

02

Build leverage through systems.

Financial Intelligence framework — one system, four products, multi-step flows. Systems compound; features don't.

03

Use prototyping to break stalemates.

Vibe coding at Intuit — end-to-end agent prototypes that validated new paradigms. Working software beats whitepapers.

04

Develop talent through hard problems.

Extensions team of 10 at Google — handed real strategy, not pixel work. The team grew by owning the trickiest patterns first.
